The IBM T40 ThinkPad can no longer be purchased new from the manufacturer, but there are plenty of used and refurbished models available. The best place to find these IBM ThinkPad T40 laptops is at online auction sites, classified sites and marketplaces such as Amazon.com where people can buy and sell used items. Here is a comparison of the IBM T40 price at some of these sites.

When I wrote this, there were twelve IBM ThinkPad T40 laptops listed at Amazon.com, six used and six refurbished. The prices on the used IBM T40 laptops ranged from $175 to $339, plus $10.49 shipping. The refurbished laptops ranged from $199 to $424.99, with shipping costs from $8.49 to $25.99.

You can find refurbished IBM ThinkPad laptops on the Used Laptops page at IBM.com. Unfortunately, there were no IBM T40′s listed at the time I compiled this price comparison, but the refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad T60 is selling for between $345 and $459. The prices vary depending on the configuration as well as the condition of the laptop.

Since eBay is an auction site and you can’t see the completed item prices without paying for the privilege, I am using the Buy It Now prices for this IBM T40 price comparison. You may be able to get a better price by purchasing from an auction-style listing. Then again, you might get outbid and end up unable to get a better price. The Buy It Now prices for the IBM ThinkPad T40 on eBay range from $99.99 to $299.99 plus shipping.
